Secure Campus 2019
Posted 8/1/19

Dear Beckford Families,

In order to help our students with their transition to the new school year, we will keep the campus open before and after school for the first two weeks of school (August 20th-August 29th).

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority so we will implement our secured campus procedures starting Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

  • The campus will open at 7:30 am for students and staff only.  Aides will be on the yards for supervision.
  • TK and Kindergarten students will enter through the gate on Vanalden. Parents will walk their TK and Kinder students to the gate and drop them off.  An aide will be assigned to the gate to ensure the students go directly to the kinder yard.
  • Rooms17 and 18 will exit through the Tulsa gate.  Rooms 13, 14, and 23 will exit through the Vanalden gate.
  • All TK and Kinder students who are not picked up on time will be brought to the office.
  • 1st –5th grade students will enter and exit through the Beckford Avenue gate.
  • Teachers will walk their class to the assigned gates at the end of the day.
  • Older siblings will meet their younger siblings and exit at the younger sibling’s assigned gate.
  • All students in grades 2nd-5th attending the Youth Service program will report to the auditorium.
  • YMCA will continue to pick kindergarten students up from the classrooms.
  • Students in 1st-5th grades, attending the YMCA, will be released to the Y bungalow.
  • All students attending PEAK Adventure, Good News Club or Intervention will be dismissed to the appropriate room.  Children will be walked to the Beckford gate by the afterschool teacher.
  • Parents will be asked to wait outside the gate to meet their children.
  • Only tardy students can enter through the office and tardy students must be walked in with a parent.
  • All parent volunteers may sign in at the main office after 8:15 am, after dropping their child off at the appropriate gate, allowing the teachers to prepare for the instructional day.
  • All parent volunteers MUST have a current volunteer badge and have signed up online and been approved by the District.  Please call Charisma in the office or email her at charisma.bote@lausd.net if you need help signing up to become a volunteer.
  • On rainy days, all students will report to the auditorium.

We need to know who is on campus at all times following District policy to secure a safe school environment.  We encourage parents to participate by volunteering in the classrooms, serving on committees, running for Governance as well as all our PTA functions and continue our collaborative relationships with the staff and other families.  We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Shelly Brower and the Beckford Staff
