Virtual Governance Meeting
April 21, 2022

Meeting Called to Order by Shelly Brower at 2:48pm


There were 9 voting members present.

  • Stella Vigodnier, School Administrative Assistant
  • Jessica Visitisomsuk, Parent Representative, PTA Rep, Parliamentarian
  • Deborah Whitt, Teacher Representative K-1

Minutes approved: Stella Vigodier asked for approval of last meeting’s minutes. No nays or abstentions.

PTA UPDATE - Jessica Visitsomsuk and Tracey Corrado
A summary of past and current PTA events was given by Jessica Visitisomsuk

  • Cinnabon truck - May 18th as well
  • Walk-a-thon - 4/28 to raise money for tables with umbrellas
  • Yearbooks on sale until 4/29, $30 soft cover/$50 hard cover
  • Teacher Appreciation week - May 2 to 6th
  • Did not win plastic bag recycling competition but we have the ball rolling for next year
  • Family Fun Night - Saturday 6/4 , games, Book Fair, looking for approved volunteers
  • Open House - May 26, in person
    • PTA will have In N Out Fundraiser truck to serve dinner, 20% to In N Out and the rest to us, tickets to be pre sold

Mrs. Brower, Principal, gave a summary of new affairs at Beckford.

The principal, Shelly Brower, explained the vision and focus of the LCAP.

She explained the LCAP goals-Proficiency for All, 100% Attendance, Parent, Student and Community Engagement, School Safety and Climate, and Basic Services. Data was then aligned to the strategies and actions leading to improvement. An attendance counselor, school psychologist, a psychiatric social worker, and teacher’s assistants were funded to meet the student needs.

Shelly Brower opened the floor for discussion of the strategies and action steps.

Shelly Brower asked for a motion to accept the LCAP. Sandra Paris seconded the motion. In favor 9, opposed 0, abstained 0. The motion passed.

Open House May 26

  • Teachers are happy to have parents back
  • Minimum Day that day (and the day after)

COVID Committee

  • Would like parents to mask during Open House, not mandated
  • 1st grade, patriotic program outside
  • Kinder will have a program
  • 2nd grade had wax museum
  • 5th grade testing, and 5/12 Disneyland

Calendar for next school year came out

  • August 15th first day, June 15 last day
  • Five acceleration days, unsure what those are
  • Added Armenian Genocide for next school year

No requests for disability related modifications for anyone attending this virtual meeting.

A motion was made to adjourn by Sandra Paris at 3:27 pm. Motion carried.
